Mailing labels with bar code tracking commercial printing services enable Smith-Edwards-Dunlap (SED), Philadelphia’s high quality commercial printing company, to electronically track the location of your mail pieces from inventory and the time they leave our facility to the time the USPS® carrier delivers the mail and the recipient reviews the order. By combining our expertise in programming with our inkjet technology, we can provide a barcode on any high quality commercial printed piece. In addition to state-of-the-art barcode tracking, SED also offers personalized mailing label services. Names and addresses can be printed in a variety of fonts for a professional image.
SED currently implements POSTNET and PLANET coding
techniques, which are height-modulated linear barcodes that
use the height of regularly spaced bars to encode
numeric information.
In 2005 the Postal Service finalized the design of a new barcode (OneCodesolution), which uses 4-state barcode symbology. OneCodesolution is a height-modulated barcode designed for high-speed, automated mail sorting wherein both the PLANET and POSTNET barcode information is combined into a single barcode with expanded tracking capability. Smith-Edwards-Dunlap is following this technology as it advances. We take pride in staying up-to-date on the latest mailing developments to provide our customers with the best services available.
